As an experienced educator with over 6 years spent teaching in the classroom, I began to realize trends among students. Some children readily grasp concepts, others take some time to develop. I began to ask questions.
" Why? What sets these students apart? What do some students need that others don't?"
While there are some biological factors beyond my control, there are other, very important aspects of which I can contribute.
Time. Energy. Expertise. Enthusiasm.
I have the time to put into these students who need extra practice, or who need to enrichment activities to launch them to a new level. I have the energy to write engaging lessons and activities to cause children to thrive and enjoy learning.
I have the expertise in my field to allow for research based, best practices which will allow children to grow, and grow abundantly.
I have the energy and enthusiasm to light a fire for education that keeps burning. How? By first, getting to know and understand the child as a human being - not a number or data point. By learning alongside them, and allowing them to teach me not only what they need from me, but how they learn, and what sparks their creativity. This is only the first few of many ways I use to ignite educational desire for my students.
