As an educator, I go to a lot of trainings to review, revise, improve my teaching craft. Some trainings have been amazing, thought provoking, enlightening experiences, while others… have been… let’s just say less than “so-so”… Ok fine. They were boring. Very drawn out and b o r i n g .

Starting in 2016, I began to lead professional development (PD) workshops for both my school, and the district I work in. I worked diligently to lead PD that was engaging, thought provoking, and enlightening just as the effective PD’s I have attended in the past!
Fast-forward 3 years.
I relaxed into my teaching / coaching role, and that’s where I stayed. Earlier this year as I attended more trainings, I noticed people wearing shirts, denoting their “status” as an official leader and/or presenter for the district. Then I thought to myself.. Why am I not here presenting? Some of these people I know from other schools, and others I’ve seen through other presentations over the years. But why not me?
At this moment I realized why. Refer to the previous paragraph “I relaxed into my teaching / coaching role”.
Upon this realization, I did some deep reflection and made sense of my situation. I want to continue to be a leader I want to continue to lead professional development workshops for my school and the district. I want to be a face recognized for my contribution children’s development, their education, and teacher’s educational experiences, too!
SO WHY NOT?
Right? Why Not? This is all dependent on no one other than Me, Myself and I. All the tools, connections and resources I could ever need are at my fingertips. It’s time to start using them to turn the things I want into the things I have.
Watch out. Here I come.
