This week’s assignment for my MAET program at MSU is to acquire a new skill in 4 weeks. I can learn to make or do anything I please. Now, as exciting and useful as this task may seem, there is a catch. I can only acquire this new skill through the use of youtube videos and online help forums. Crazy, right?! I know. That’s what I thought, at first. But after thinking about it a second time, it actually made sense. When I couldn’t solve a math problem, or properly cut a watermelon, or perfect the smoky eye with my makeup, I watched a how-to video on youtube! If I’ve already searched the web for those types of things in the past, why couldn’t I search youtube to acquire a new skill for my future? It makes perfect sense
After much thinking and consideration, I finally decided. The skill I have chosen to learn is one that I have always found quite interesting. I have seen it at the circus, from street performers, and even on tv and movies. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do this, but never had time or resources to be able to. What skill am I talking about??
The art of juggling.
Niels Duiker is an award winning, world record holding, famous juggler from The Netherlands. He has posted several how-to videos on his youtube channel as well as several videos of him in action juggling around the world. I am looking forward to learning from his videos!
I will be documenting my progress each week as I practice and and learn how to juggle. You’ll see my successes, failures, and all the laughter that comes along the way. Feel free to follow along with me on this journey! Also, comment below with any feedback, comments or suggestions! Enjoy!
